Weather Cancellations
Soccer’s an outdoor sport, so we’re ready to roll with a little rain! Practices and games are on unless we’re dealing with thunder, lightning, or a total downpour. We also keep an eye on the fields—if heavy rain leaves them soggy, muddy, or unsafe, we’ll have to call it off. Our goal is to keep the season going whenever possible, so we don’t cancel lightly!
Weather’s tricky to predict (we’re coaches, not meteorologists!), so we wait as late as we can to make the callas the weather changes. In cases where we are uncertain we will likely go and try and run the session, and risk a cancellation rather than cancel and then its fine! Sometimes, a sudden thunderstorm might force a last-minute cancellation, but we’ll get the word out fast via email. Keep your phone handy and check your inbox (spam folder too) for updates! Heads-up: April’s weather can be wild, so expect a few cancellations early in the season. Pack an extra towel and some patience—we’ll make it work!
At United Soccer Academies we do things differently than typical House Leagues—no cookie-cutter groups based solely on birth year here! We group players using a mix of age, ability level, game understanding, and physicality to create the perfect environment for everyone to thrive. Our groups are fluid, shifting week to week based on who shows up and how players are progressing. Over the next three months, your player might switch groups as we adjust to give them the best shot at learning and success. When it’s game time, teams stay flexible too, letting players mix with different teammates to boost their social skills and team-building while sharpening their game.
Just like our groups, our coaching setup is all about variety! We mix it up so every player trains with as many of our awesome coaches as possible. That means everyone gets time with our best—no matter their skill level. Each coach brings unique qualities and specialties, from dribbling tricks to teamwork drills, keeping sessions fresh and players engaged and focused. This approach builds adaptability, strengthens social skills, and ensures a well-rounded experience. Our coaches are trained, background-checked, and here to make soccer a blast while bringing out the best in every kid.
Our sessions are high-energy and hands-on! Players rotate through 4–5 games and activities (younger kids) or 3–4 (older kids) each night, all tied to a central idea or principle. For younger players, it’s about skill-building—dribbling, passing, shooting—wrapped in fun games. Older players add key concepts like positioning or teamwork, growing their soccer IQ. Every session ends with playtime to test it all out. Every 3rd or 4th session, we host a Game Night—a full hour of varied match formats like 3v3s or mini-tournaments. It’s a chance to shine, mix teams, and have a blast!
For our youngest players, we encourage parents to stay and cheer—but please keep a fair distance from the field (no parents allowed on it). We’ll have a designated area for you to watch. This space helps little ones focus on coaches without distractions. Players should bring their water bottle onto the field to stay in the flow—no constant sideline runs! Most importantly, we ask you to avoid coaching from the sidelines. Shouting “Go get the ball!” or “Shoot!” can clash with our lessons (like holding position or timing a pass). Trust our coaches, be their biggest fan with cheers, and watch them grow in a positive vibe!
For pick-up, we ask that you’re at the field 10 minutes early to collect your player (e.g., if the session ends at 6:30 PM, arrive by 6:20 PM). You’re responsible for picking them up on time—it’s a big help to us and keeps your player safe and happy. Running late? No sweat, just text or call us at 519 890 7923 as soon as you can so we know what’s up. Coaches will stick around until everyone’s picked up, but a heads-up lets us plan accordingly. Thanks for keeping the drop-off and pick-up game strong!
